Bohol/Cebu
at the heart of the Philippines

Malapascua
Island at the north tip of Cebu Island
INTRODUCTION
Philippine
Airlines, the country's flag carrier, links Manila
to 26 cities and in 19 countries worldwide. Manila's
strategic location makes it a vital point on major
international routes. There are 28 international
airlines presently servicing Manila. Daily flights
from United States West Coast and the Midwest are
serviced by four airlines. United Airlines, Northwest
Airlines, Continental Airlines and Philippine Airlines.
A
number of airlines also fly from Europe to Manila
such as Air France, Swissair, Lufthansa and from
Asia-Pacific, the following airlines service Manila:
Korean Air, Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways, Singapore
Airlines, Continental Airlines, Northwest Airlines,
British Airways, and etc.
Cebu City's international airport on Mactan Island
plays more and more a dominant role offering convenient
routes. Please check with your travel agent which
would be the best route for you in order to get
to us at the arrival date. In case you need to stay
a night in Manila or Cebu please don't hesitate
to contact us. We will recommend reasonable and
safe accommodations.
If you have more time, take a ship from Manila seaport.
WG&A and Negros Navigation are the two shipping
lines I would like to recommend. It takes about
24 hours to get to Cebu. The ships are comfortable
and if you're on a tight budget for Peso 350 (Economy
class) to 580 (Tourist Class) you will for sure get
here. Please find the schedules and telephone numbers
under 'Boat Schedules'.
How
to get to Philippine Islands Divers in Malapascua
The
fastest and easiest way is a transfer organized
by Philippine Islands Divers. It takes an average
time of 3 hours to get to the town of Maja in Daan
Bantayan the very north of Cebu Island. Please contact
us early enough for pre-arangements.
If
you want to organized your transfers by yourself
and you came in through Mactan airport or Cebu ferry
port, these are the different options of getting
to the resort/dive center:
1.
Just hire a aircon taxi at the airport/seaport or
somewhere in Cebu City. It will take approximetely
3.5 hours before you reach Maja.
2. Proceed to the north bus terminal and take a
public bus. The ride wil take around 4 to 4.5 hours
in an non-aircon bus.
Arrived
in Maja you need to take a banka boat (traditional
outrigger boat). Every 30 min, from 07:00am to 5:00pm,
you can find a boat going to Malapascua at the small
port. In case you missed the last boat, lodging
houses in Maja are the only over-night-stay solution.
Make sure to depart early in morning from Cebu City
in order to get to Malapascua.
